BOOK DONATION (SUMMER 2025)

This summer, Next Chapter Initiative donated a curated collection of books to the Placer County Juvenile Detention Facility in Auburn, CA. With the help from NCI members and generous support from a volunteer coordinator at our local library, Ann Marie Drabin, we collected and organized books across a variety of genres, along with a complete genre-sorted list for staff use.

The donation included a handwritten letter of gratitude and encouragement, reminding the youth that their next chapter is still being written.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DONATION (SUMMER 2025)

In August 2025, Next Chapter Initiative held our first-ever school supply donation project. Thanks to the generosity of our members, we collected and donated 51 school supplies to Westbrook Elementary School. From notebooks and crayons to pencils and markers, these items will support students as they start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

This project reflects NCI's mission of youth helping youth-every contribution makes a difference, and together we are creating brighter chapters for our community.

CARE KITS FOR FOSTER YOUTH (FALL 2025)

The Next Chapter Initiative (NCI) recently partnered with Children’s Hope Foster Family Agency to provide care kits for children in foster care. Our student volunteers assembled kits filled with essential items such as toiletries, school supplies, and small comfort items to help bring a sense of security and joy to these youth.

This project reflects NCI’s commitment to empowering students to make a positive impact in their community while supporting underserved populations. Each kit was thoughtfully prepared to meet both practical and emotional needs, showing children that they are valued and cared for.

Through initiatives like this, NCI continues to inspire compassion, service, and awareness among young people, proving that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

“Ask an Attorney” with the District Attorney’s Office

The Next Chapter Initiative (NCI) is planning an interactive “Ask an Attorney” event in partnership with the Placer County District Attorney’s Office. This upcoming event will give students and community members the opportunity to learn firsthand about the legal system, careers in law, and the role of the DA in serving the community.

Attendees will be able to participate in a live Q&A session with a local attorney, engage in interactive legal scenarios, and have the chance to win prizes through raffles and giveaways sponsored by local businesses. The event is designed to be both educational and engaging, providing a fun and informative way to explore the justice system.
